About My Blog
I'm a nerd. Just gonna say that straight up here at the beginning. (If you want evidence just look to the right; I'm in the plaid)
I'm a nerd about movies, comics, music, drawing, and especially books. Reading and writing has always been a huge part of my life since day one. With two elementary school teacher parents, the importance of reading was not lost on me nor my sister. Before we could properly read, our parents read to us. I remember getting so excited every night for story time. The Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley was a big favorite, there was Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein, The Giant Rat of Sumatra by Sid Fleischman, and so so so many more. If it wasn't obvious already, I was a huge fan of fantasy and adventure stories. So much so in fact that I actually have several notebooks filled with half baked, half finished fantasy stories I wrote when I was little. While I still love those tales, my tastes have grown with age and now I read as much as I can from every genre. And that's what this blog is for! People who love to read or write or compare movies with source material; there's something for everyone. I hope to learn more about blogging, writing for the internet, and to connect with all of you! I want this blog to be a place of discussion, not just me giving my opinion. Comment on posts, email me, do whatever you can to engage. Some blogs that I hope to emulate in terms of community include Rather Be Reading by Estelle and Magan, Joanne's Reading Blog by Joanne Booy, and So Many Books by Stefanie Hollmichel. Rather Be Reading has a very tightknit community and a blogging schedule that suits my busy time frame. http://ratherbereadingblog.com/ Joanne's Reading Blog is a wonderful blog that focuses primarily on book reviews and was one of the early inspirations for Make Room for Reading. https://joannesreadingblog.wordpress.com/ So Many Books is what I aspire to be. It's a blog that's been running since 2007 and has developed a huge following. Stefanie Hollmichel also encourages engagement between readers and herself, something I want to include. Her writing is expressive and very enjoyable. https://somanybooksblog.com/ |
